ItaRico is a project that takes a stand against the disposable culture of everyday objects designing products made of everlasting up-cycled metals. We designed a writing instrument with dual functionality, a pen, and a lead holder. It is inspired by sleek and simple elegance with a playful attitude towards materials. The design consists of a simple cylindrical volume made out of up-cycled copper and brass. Bold in form, exact in function, a sphere breaks the traditional shape of a pen by holding in place the pencil lead or pen insert. The latest design includes a feature that enhances the experience of writing or drawing. It features a distinctive ‘dimple’ in the cylindrical body which leads the hand to rest naturally.
